APRIL 20, 2018, DHAKA, BANGLADESH – Praava Health hosted two Continuing Medical Education (CME) events on Friday, April 20 at 6pm at Praava Family Health Center in Banani. The events featured Dr. Varun Shetty, Cardiothoracic Surgeon and son of Dr. Devi Shetty, and Dr. Ashwinikumar Kudari, Robotic Surgeon and Gastroenterologist, from Narayana Health City in Bangalore, India. Dr. Shetty spoke about Artificial Heart Transplants, and Dr. Kudari shared his work in Gastro Robotic Surgery.
Praava Health is excited to share the expertise of Dr. Shetty and Dr. Kudari with the medical community in Bangladesh. Praava Health has an innovative partnership with Narayana Health that allows patients to consult with doctors from Narayana Health using videoconference and diagnostic technology. Every year, 100,000 patients from Bangladesh travel to India to visit Narayana Health for treatment.
“We are thrilled to host these esteemed doctors from Narayana Health and excited to deepen our ties with a company whose work we deeply admire,” said Praava Health Founder and CEO Ms. Sylvana Sinha. “Praava and Narayana are reaching across borders to improve access to healthcare for patients in Bangladesh.”
“This is the beginning of a journey for patients planning to explore healthcare opportunities for treatment and followup in Narayana Health, and we are pleased to have these renowned doctors with us. We are confident this will lead to more opportunities for Praava and Narayana Health to deliver much needed medical services to patients in Bangladesh,” said Dr. Simeen Majid Akhtar, Senior Medical Director of Praava Health.
“Bangladeshis and Indians are more vulnerable to heart disease compared to people in the West. I would advise everyone over 40 to undergo comprehensive heart checkups to prevent the onset of heart disease,” said Dr. Varun Shetty. “Through our collaboration with Praava Health, patients in Bangladesh can get heart checkups done at Praava before and after their visit to Narayana, and communicate with our doctors via teleconference.”
“Robotic surgery is the latest technology where surgeries can be performed more precisely and accurately than laparoscopic surgery,” said Dr. Ashwinikumar Kudari. “Praava Health introduced a wonderful new concept of healthcare in Bangladesh, with a state of the art facility and the use of latest technology. I feel Praava has a bright future and will be a great help to all Bangladeshi people.”
